I am looking forward to Friday. We drive up north to stay at my Dad's cottage for the 4th every year. This is a family tradition my Mom started when she would rent a cottage and invite all of her children to come stay for the 4th. Her thinking was that the inlaws were less likely to go after this holiday and she could have a less stress holiday with all of her children and grandchildren. Her legacy is that this tradition continues after her passing.

I'm looking forward to going this year as the grief and pain are not so fresh. Memories flood you as you enter the home and see her personal touches throughout. She basically just finished all of the decorating and painting before she died. It is a wonderful place to retreat from the world. I enjoy the memories that flood back. I still miss her so much.

My kids are very excited about going. I keep thinking I am only about 2 years from being able to spend most of our summers there. I can't wait to be a teacher! Having summers off with the kids will be the best. The picture is my kids and niece from last year. I'm looking forward to this!
