Sometimes I worry for my children. I wonder how much I am warping them with the bizarre things I hear coming out of my mouth. I didn't really say that did I??

Last night I was laying down the law with Wonder Boy. He was pretty much having no part of it and simply told me NO, it isn't happening like that. I asked him who he thought he was -- the mother or the child? Did he think he was in charge?

Well, that sounds like something a normal sane person might wonder or say, but then I took a leap into the surreal. I actually asked him if he had a vagina and if he'd had any babies come out of it? If he had, he was a mom. If not, it was time to shut his mouth and do as I asked, or he'd be losing some big time privileges.

Wonder Boy stared at me in shock.

My husband and daughter stared at me in shock.

Apparently it was shocking to see a tenacious child push his mother to the point where she asked if he had ever had a baby come out of his vagina. Stunned silence. Blink. Blink. Blink.

My point was taken. His wide eyed 9 year old response was "Ew." My son then did as I had asked. My daughter gave an exasperated "Mom!" All was well. We had sorted it out. We all now remembered whom had the babies come out of her vagina and who was the Mom.

I'm glad we are all clear on this now. I hope I didn't damage the kids too much.

Ha Ha Ha!! That was too funny! I especially liked his response... "Ew". I have to say, I could picture myself saying something like that to my boys one day.

I LOVE this story. Ya know sometimes you gotta remind those kids who's in charge and what's what!

Funny. I think that was an excellent refresher course of who's who in the family!

It gets harder and harder to come up with things to which there is no comeback or response. You did it girl!

Oh my god, that was the funniest thing I've heard all day! I may have to use that one for "shock and awe" with my 9 year old son if he keeps rolling his eyes every time I ask him to do something!
