A sunset like this is why I will drive 4 - 4.5 hours to my Dad's place Up North. Picture this same sunset on the water. There is something about sunset and the water. It soothes my soul and brings me closer to God. My Mom loved sunsets. When I take the time to watch one on the water I know she is with me.

Sunsets help me forget Mean Picture Lady at the Secretary of State's office (DMV for those out there with DMV's). Only 3 weeks till my new ugly picture comes in the mail and I get to try again.

Yes, I am that shallow.

Yes, I am ashamed.

Anonymous said...: oh my gosh! today i sat and stared at my driver's license picture and wondered if i should elect to keep the old picture when i renew, or if i look better now and get a new picture. I am that shallow TOO! i still haven't decided. unfortunately, i don't htink i look better now...; 11:59 PM

I swear, we can fix ourselves up to the hilt, but we are still guaranteed a lousy shot. My dad always said it's good to look lousy on your license or passport. Thanks for commenting on my story of my sis and her double loss. She is a breast cancer survivor, as well. I've wondered how someone can be so gentle yet so strong. I guess that is what it takes.

Not quite endometrial specific, but darn close! Endometrial cancer is the version that took my mom. My view is that curing ANY cancer brings us closer to curing ALL cancer. My OBGYN informed me that even with my family history I have a better chance of getting breast cancer than uterine cancer (which is what took my mother). Do you check yourself monthly? Please do! I'm a two for one deal -- Dad has joined the cancer club too. He picked a more treatable one thankfully! His treatment went well thus far -- may all men remember to get their PSA tests. Early detection = early cure! I'm adding the breast cancer version because I had an abnormal mammogram. Girls, please get your girls checked! I get to wait 6 months for another mammo to check my calcification situation.... Worst case scenario I will be a poster child for early detection. Be sure to go to the best possible facility for your mammogram. My 2nd opinion films showed me the difference... it is worth the drive to go to a higher quality center!
