Yesterday was another crazy hectic day. I had to run to the other side of town for work and get back in time for my pre student teaching by 3pm (there were call back try outs for the play and I'm learning with the drama teacher this semester). Can I just tell you that these try outs were better than watching American Idol and all those other shows? I can't wait to be lucky enough to teach teens. WOW are they ever fun!
So I had an awesome time at try outs. The teacher is more friendly and less intimidating now that I've spent an afternoon with her. She kept asking for my opinion and I told her that I felt unqualified since I lack the experience to know what I'm looking at in terms of talent -- she said that you go with gut feel and who has appeal to you as a member of the audience. Just being the audience makes you qualified to judge the acting. That boosted my confidence! It was interesting to say the least! I am looking forward to watching this production evolve. I hope I can cut out of work early to be a part of this. I can't wait to student teach! I'm now feeling better about the whole thing and I've only done 3 hours of observation. I told Drama Teacher that I'm making a list of questions about how and why she does things. She said she'd be happy to explain it more. Pretty cool!
