My niece was born at 2:22 this morning. 6 pounds, 15 ounces, 20 inches long. We are thrilled she is here! She is in the NICU. It has been a long day. Apparently breathing fast is a little scary when there was meconium in the womb. I'm hoping there is not infection, I'm hoping the baby's IV has an antibiotic. Call me crazy, but that would reassure me. A little reading on this ca make an Aunt nervous!
It is so hard staying at an arm's length. I know how I would handle things, but this is not my baby. I must let her parents be the ones to ask questions... I must let my sister spread her wings as a mom. It is a good hospital. I trust them.
I feel bad for my sister. As of 9:30 pm this evening she had not yet held her bundle of joy. She yearns for her, but baby isn't on our schedule, she has her own plan. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit tonight. Sleep well baby, we are happy you are here! Be calm, be healthy, be well. We love you.

Congratulations for your sister. My happy thoughts are with her and baby at this time... hope all comes thru with her breathing. Mum will hold and bond soon.
