Day 3 of Captivity

Life is so crazy and I'm SO lucky! I have a blood clot and am in the hospital. It happened Friday. Speculation is that the clot likely broke off a larger one which formed in the heart (possibly on the patch from my previous heart issue). How about that? Is that enough to scare the shit out of me or what?

My guardian angel was working over time to send this clot to my hand of all places. I have NOT had another stroke. Seriously - I'm passing all the neurological tests!

I am on Heparin and will have a really nasty test on Monday (T.E.E. -- basically and look see at the heart that is done by going down the throat and scanning pictures). Apparently this is not a weekend crew test. I should have a sexy husky voice following the test sometime tomorrow. They want to be sure my heart patch is in place as well. Hopefully I'll get some cool pictures. The hospital here was recently redone and it is really nice. They are taking wonderful care of me, so I forgive them for taking my blood every 6 hours.

I've decided I must have a really cool higher purpose. How else could I be so lucky twice? How many people have had a blood clot shoot from the heart to the hand TWICE without major brain damage (insert joke here about my majorly damaged brain). After speaking with the doctor today I got the clearer picture that the clot may have come from my heart and why it possibly formed on scar tissue from the previous issue; I'm feeling really grateful and lucky. I sometimes think they wait to tell you things in the hospital so you don't freak out. They feed you little pieces of information and let you process them.

So, we wait and see what the test results are before forming the plan. Treatment seems to be all about blood thinners (duh) and rest (ick). I'm doing both right now (I'm in a step down unit next to the ICU so the nursing and monitoring are awesome). Please keep me in your prayers -- my hope is that the clot which hit my hand was the big one and that no friends are still camping in the heart.

I don't know when I'll be able to email again as I'm not often let out of confinement. My captures are kind so imprisonment isn't so bad. I hope to have a good test early tomorrow and to be released to go home. Feel free to pass along a prayer request on the sassy board. Hopefully I have already been through the worst of this :-)

Gotta run (I mean walk slowly). If I'm gone much longer on this walk they will look for me....

the symptoms?

First -- thank you so much for all the good wishes and prayers!!! I realize that without support I am nothing.

As for symptoms Pamela, I had a sudden sharp monster pain in my hand. A crazy dark purple (almost black) bruising appeared. The pain was horrible and reminded me of another sudden horrible pain -- the blood clot that I'd had previously. The hand then swelled around the area of the clot and the veins stuck out a bit. It was then that I decided to go to the emergency room.... who was I kidding, I'd been here and done this before and knew what was happening. Lucky for me it was VERY minor.
