Bridesmaid / Diet / Your advice?

12/30 I'm standing up in my sister's wedding August 20, 2005. I'm 36, I've had 2 kids, I was in a severe car accident in 2001 and have had major health issues the past several years. While I am a stickler for working out, my weight is an issue -- partly because cardio had to be put on hold for such a long time due to my health, partly because I got big with kids, and partly because I love food.

I want to lose significant weight by 8/20. I'm considering a hospital program. I'm open to advice on this if you want to make comments. I'm torn between South Beach and the St. Joe plan (hospital plan that provides meals and shakes). Currently I'm down a good 30 pounds from maximum density. I am down 10 since June and gained nothing during the holidays. I'm thrilled to finally be losing again (no losses happened since the accident so it has been a frustrating few years). I know slow is the ideal way to go because it is easier to keep off. I put on the weight when I worked crazy amounts of hours and never had time to cook for myself. I'm now in a sane job and am only taking one class at a time (I'm working toward teaching certification). I'm dedicated to being healthy so I feel pretty confident I can be compliant. The time is NOW for me to achieve this goal..

I will be standing up between my cute skinny sister and our close friend who should really be a model but she's just a tad too short. I don't need to compete -- I just want to avoid humiliation. I am also very interested in breast reduction surgery (am I sharing too much here?) . The doctor wants to hold off until I'm within 10-15 pounds of my goal (so that I don't end up looking strange losing weight after the surgery). I see him again in March so I'd like to drop a big chunk by then.

It would be ideal if I could have the breast reduction before the wedding because currently my chest forces me into tops that are at least one size bigger than necessary to accommodate. I end up with sleeves that are too long and shoulders that hang too long just because of the boob issue. The girls really are too big. My sister had her's reduced and is so much happier. She can run up the stairs now without them hurting. I admit my jealousy of this. I also find them cumbersome when doing cardio -- you would have laughed when I tried to jog instead of walk on the treadmill. I'll be sticking to the elliptical cross trainer thank you very much.

The question is which way to go. I think the hospital plan may be easier since it would give me prepared meals....

Update12:20am -- I was really good all day but crumbled and had cheese pizza for dinner. Shoot me now. I need to plan better so I don't get starved. When I am hungry I can't think and make bad food decisions. Maybe by eating healthy tomorrow I'll change my ways? I better!

UPDATE 1/18 -- Tomorrow I will start the hospital plan. Wish me luck. I will miss my evening wine. This sounds like it is for vanity, but it is truly about health. I want to reduce the strain on my bones and heart. Losing the extra pounds will do this.
