Things moving fast....

Things are moving fast with my Mom. She was hospitalized mid February for the pain from her cancer and has just finished radiation treatments. Chemo is too toxic at this time so that can not be continued. We are hoping and praying she can get into a good rehabilitation place or hospice.

She is not strong enough or functioning enough to be cared for at home. We visited nursing homes yesterday and saw both ends to the spectrum -- the great and the horrible. Amazing how these places want Medicare patients vs. Blue Cross. They will hold beds open for Medicare vs. taking private insurance. At least getting old has perks. My mom is only 63 -- 2 years from Medicare. We are praying, it is in God's hands. My mom told us (she has 4 adult children) her wishes last night about going into hospice and not staying around if quality of life is going to be as it is now. I understand and respect her wishes -- my brother and sisters do too. My Dad is wonderful to her. It is an amazing thing to see the tenderness and love. I think she is comforted that all of us understand and respect her wishes. We were told 6 to 9 months . . .
