Wow, I have really been sick. It has almost been nice since I really needed some time to rest and be alone. I had the flu two weeks ago. It was nasty. It started with a super high fever (102+) and mega bad body aches and a head ache to beat the band. I stayed home from work 1/2 the work week. Not much sympathy from my male coworkers (Dad and 2 brothers). Men don't stay home when they have fever -- they come to work and make the rest of the world ill. Thanks for the cold that accompanied my flu Pete!
Then it evolved into severe bronchitis. I went to the doctor and was put on antibiotics and a killer cough syrup (I did not know they could put vicodin in that stuff, but they do). The cough syrup was such a blessing. I had pulled all the muscles in my neck, throat, chest, and stomach just from coughing. By yesterday instead of improving, I was worse! I felt so weak and could not breath.
The doctor concluded that I was not reacting quick enough to the antibiotic so she hit me with a steroid and an inhaler to help my breathing (the wheezing was both in and out, and it was way too much). The long and short of it is that you can slip from flu to bronchitis to pneumonia very easily. Even with all the resting I have done (notice how little I've been posting?) I was a textbook case in following that path. I am a bit better today, but way too weak. I had to come back to this post several different times after resting. How pathetic is that? My husband has been a saint. He got the kids new winter coats today and brought me Chicken Lemon Rice soup from the Coney Island. That is love. I had only been able to keep down Rice Chex and ginger ale up to this point. I had to chew down some Tums after the soup, but it was GOOD!
I need to go lay back down now. I'm grateful for the comment on my previous post that kicked me in the butt to write. More to come as I feel up to it. Above is a picture of Millie enjoying the sun spot a few weeks ago. Seemed to fit my mood.
