Happy Birthday Dad!

He doesn't read my blog -- I try not to let people in "real life" know too much about my blog habit. If family and friends read this they would see my venting posts and it wouldn't be good for relationships. Sometimes writing about things is my therapy and makes me think things through more clearly than when I just mull it over in my mind.

ANYWAY.... I asked Dad what his best birthday was. "Probably my first" was his incredulous response. Classic! I told him I loved him. What a great response. If anyone ever asks me that question I'm using his answer. It is great to be alive. Dad is 68 today. He is Superman to us.

Dad is a huge romantic. He left Mom yellow roses yesterday -- this was their thing. She loved yellow roses. He gave them to her every anniversary. One yellow rose for every year together and one red rose for his love and the year to come. What a beautiful romantic example he sets.

My nephew turned 2 on Monday. My brother's wife had her birthday on Wednesday. Mom was yesterday, Dad is today. Saturday we celebrate all these birthdays together at Dad's house (he's making chile!) and then my birthday is Sunday.

Hubby is giving me my present early -- a new SLR digital camera! I'm very excited. He has grown to love my photography and computer slideshows from different events. This will be my birthday and Christmas present. He saved up money for this (despite my feelings that this is not the best time in the world for this purchase). I'm giving in and enjoying the treat. He wants me to be able to get action shots of every one of his soccer players. My current digital camera is not capable of action shots like this. At the end of the season party we think it would be cool to give them each a framed action shot of themselves (I'll get the frames at Big Lots or the Dollar Store most likely).

So tomorrow I get to play with a new camera! I'm excited. I think the camera is a nice perk for turning 38! My goal is to be close to goal weight by 39 so I can coast into 40 looking and feeling better than ever.

Birthday week is always a nice time for me to take stock in those I love and where I'm going. Best birthday ever? My first, of course!

Anyway... HP to you and your dad

A tear for the roses... really, I weep.

And I'm looking forward to your new camera. YES!

The roses and romanticness of your Dad are precious. That was so sweet.

I do love that answer too. Can I use it too? And Happy Birthdays all around to all your loved ones celebrating one. They are happy days indeed. Pass the cake.
