It is 11:18 and I hear my 9 year old son upstairs. He has crept to the bathroom. I heard the door creak, then the floor creaked (ah the advantages of a home built in 1917 -- you can't escape the creaking, even if you walk on the outside edge of the stairway treads). He should be asleep by now. He is awake. He is lost in a book that he begged Hubby to go and get.
He has fallen in love with another book series. This time he is into The Warriors. He is digging this book series BIG TIME. His teacher told him about this series. I have not read these books but I will have to read along. I miss knowing all the books my children have read. Lately I read for my classes vs. reading for pleasure. I am not afraid to admit that I've curbed my interest in reading for fun. I read for purpose right now and look forward to once again getting lost in the worlds created by the wondrous authors of the novels I crave.
My son has become me. He must be touched in order to summon him from the worlds of his books. My daughter likes for someone else to read the book and then to fill her in on the good stuff. She can get lost in a book, but it must be about sports for her to truly have interest. So, it is way past Wonder Boy's bed time and I pretend not to hear him. I pretend not to know he is reading. He is in a fantasy world. I will let him enjoy it.... at least it isn't a school night...

my brother would stay up all night.. then go to work without sleeping because he was so engrossed in a book.
I've done 3 a.m then I have to get a couple of hours
Good for your son!!! I've heard very good things about that series from my 4th-grade son's classmates!
Nothing wrong with sneaking a little reading!
