Nativity

Way back in November I read about the above Fisher Price nativity set on Our Little Corner of the Upstate. I am excited because I finally ordered MINE! You don't know this about me, but I was a Fisher Price Little People JUNKIE as a kid (should I have listed this on the weird things meme?).

I played with my Little People well beyond what would be considered normal. My sister and 2 of our friends were in the Little People Club. As we got older, the story lines got interesting -- especially after we watched some after school specials on TV! I know I'll never forget our Little People "Home for Battered Women." (I know I'm not right in the head, you don't have to say it!).

So anyway, yesterday I ordered a Fisher Price nativity for my house (here is the link). My kids are 9 and 10 and will not likely be interested in the cool new nativity. I have many friends with little ones though. I will add this to my Christmas tradition -- a nativity meant to be played with by the little ones.

I remember my Mom cringing as we would beg to rearrange the nativity. She loved that set (and I still do), but would allow us to move the characters around anyway. Thank you Mom! We would position the animals differently, relocate people, spread the display, condense the display. All four of us were fascinated. We would sneak over and rearrange when nobody was around --- only to be horrified when our hard work arranging was destroyed by a sibling who would sneak over as soon as you walked away.

A nativity created for little hands... What a beautiful thing!
