Ice Storm 2007

A few streets over tree meets porch. The rain we had previously softened the ground. The ice that accumulated on the branches, and down goes Mr. Tree. Many neighbors had large limbs down, we have been lucky so far. There are many mature trees in this neck of the woods so a storm like this can be deadly. There have been downed power lines as well.

We are grateful for the beauty but sad for the destruction. I'm amazed that despite some melting we still have ice sculptures for trees. Beautiful, but lots of damage. Let's get back to the pretty....

Some pictures be to be taken. I pulled off the main drag to get this one as the morning sun shone upon the tips of each branch. Click on the picture for a larger image, but know that the reality was SO much better -- I can not do it justice despite multiple attempts. :-)

I took this photo while stopped by a train (not even the train near my home -- you know, I get stuck by trains a lot. I must be a train magnet). People must think I'm strange when I roll down my car window and take these random shots -- but how can I resist??
I took the above while stopped at the same train as above. Look! You can see the train!
I wish you could have seen the way these trees seemed to go on forever... each with a million diamond sparkles.... I don't mind driving all over the state for my work when I get to see scenes like I have for the past few days.... Ice then snow sprinkles.... so much pretty!

Sleep: I'm still struggling with the sleep thing... I'm hoping I pull off my homework tonight without major errors. I hate that sleepiness kills my attention to detail -- my small sloppy mistakes make me nuts. I find myself repeating myself because I don't remember what I say.... Oh well, hopefully I become so interesting that I'm worth listening to twice!

Baby Updates: My older brother's wife M has been behaving but the cervix has thinned further. I'm hopeful the doctors will put her total bed rest. She is trying to take it easy, but I know how hard it is. You forget that you are on your feet when you make dinner! Say a prayer for her if you could. My sister had her ultrasound on Monday and all went well. My Hubby's sister has her ultrasound next week. I'll be dripping with nieces/nephews by this summer!

Now -- off to do my homework! Say a prayer for me -- this semester will be filled with great learning but WOW is there a lot of course work to juggle on top of my day job. I need to play the lottery....

Lovely pictures!! I have a few up of the ice storm we had in 2000-2001. We didn't get much of anything but rain with the most recent storm.

Life is so full of the beautiful and the destruction isn't it.

Sending you good vibes for the lottery. I love to play it and actually get really shocked and sad when I don't win. Isn't that weird? And I am a very realistic person.
