Small pleasures....

Sometimes I'm awed by the small pleasures of life. A few weeks back I did floral arrangements and centerpieces for my Dad's Christmas Eve party. I did some for my house too and have been amazed how things lasted (especially when you weed out the wilting stuff and consolidate!). So anyway, I'm here at work wishing for 5:00 and the phone rings. It is my Dad. He just called to tell me how he was consolidating and salvaging as well, and how much he appreciated my work. He said that as he was looking at them again he just thought they were beautiful. He said he couldn't believe that I put them together from stuff I bought as Costco (he will soon discover the wonder of Costco flowers -- I could tell he was thinking "Hey, I can do this!). So Dad and I can retire together as floral arrangers..... what do you think?

Sometimes I think I'm silly for loving flowers like I do. I guess I come by it honestly. I just love having a little outdoor beauty in my home. Even something as simple as evergreens in a vase brings me small pleasures. But you know what? Small pleasures stack up into a good mood on a dreary rainy day. My Dad's call made my day. It is the little things in life....

Today Hubby is home with Wonder Boy and Super Girl -- he is helping them get caught up on the religious education stuff we are so far behind on (the monthly family class is Sunday, yes we are last minute!). Anyway, I am loving that he agreed to work on this with them. Having DAD take charge of this is a huge weight off of me. Again, it is the small pleasures in life that bring me joy. I will savor this moment while I wait for 5:00 freedom!

Even I shared your pleasure hearing about the flower arrangments.

In the spring/summer/fall we have flowers in our yard and we bring some in. But I fear we overlook that need in the witner (except for my christmas cactus which blooms)

Seriously, if my flowers looked as good as yours did, I'd love them too! Costco, 'eh?

Your arrangements were absolutely beautiful and I am so glad that your dad called and told you so!! Needless to say, I adore flowers. I take more pictures of my flowers in the garden than I do of anything else!
