I am afraid for her.....

My best friend had her very first mammogram (aka: boob smashing). She didn't have any issues, but has turned 39 so it is time. Well, she got the dreaded call to come back in. Then they did the ultrasound. She saw the mass on the screen. The technician got permission to tell her -- after much begging.

Cancer. It's nearly 100% certain except for the biopsy results. The cancer specialist decided not to biopsy because he does not want to "spill any cells with a biopsy." Her kids are 2, 4, 6, and 8. The specialist thinks they caught it early. Surgery is Thursday. Please pray for my friend. Her story is so sad. She just asked her emotionally abusive husband for a divorce weeks before getting this news. He escalated to physical abuse and the police got involved this past weekend. Isn't that just what you need heading into surgery to remove a mass from your breast?

Cancer just sucks. My cousin who has been fighting breast cancer for 2 years had her mastectomy on Tuesday last week. How crazy is that?

And my doctor wondered what was wrong with me when I asked to have my uterus removed following my mother's death. Hello? I'm done having babies and I'm overweight (which increases the chances of uterine cancer). Take my freaking womb. I don't need it, thank you! Just keep that flipping cancer away from me.

Pray for my friend. I'm hopeful -- she is too!
Yes, a lot of drama lately.

Next week: Weepy posts about the end of student teaching -- say it ain't so, I don't want to go!!

Your friend has been in my thoughts since the last time you posted. SO sorry to hear it is cancer and surgery will be necessary. My prayers are with her, her children and you.

I think stress is a cancer causer. I hope she has "peace" and "healing"...
Her kids are so young.
