It is strange when a friend loses a parent now.... I am always so sad that they've joined this club. It is almost always the same...

Today at mass a friend I had not seen in a while shared that she'd lost her father. Her mother had been sick and she had to hospitalize her father the day her mother had surgery. Her mother is better now; her father has gone.

I told her I was so sorry. She looked me in the eye and said... "I get it now."

I wish she did not...
