Monday, Monday. My daughter is feeling like herself again! We are blessed that the concussion seems to have had little effect besides what happened the first day.
Today Millie the pug went to the veterinary opthamologist. She had a problem with her eye and it is pretty ugly. It turns out that the scratch is much more than a scratch. She has 3 hair follicles that have grown inward through the eyelid instead of outward. These 3 hairs have scratched and irritated the poor pug's cornea. Tomorrow she will have surgery to correct this -- she stays at the vet overnight. I am amazed at how much dog ownership can cost. It is worth it -- there is nothing like the unconditional love you get from your pets.
Tomorrow is also my mother inlaw's big day for surgery. Today she entered the hospital to have a blood transfusion and her colon cleaned out prior the surgery. She is terrified and rightly so. The doctor said she will be in the ICU for about 2 weeks following the surgery if she survives. He is very blunt and told her she would leave surgery on a gurney or in a pine box -- he isn't sure which. I feel bad for her. It has been a hell of a road just to get her strong enough for surgery. She has basically been ill since her bypass and she wasn't well before it. I'm hoping and praying she will come through this healthy and happy.
I start my classes this week as well. I am taking 2 this semester and I'm a little overwhelmed going into it. Last semester was a struggle as I adjusted to life without my mom. I feel like the ground is stabilizing beneath me but this week is a bit intimidating. I just don't know how things will go and I'm afraid to hope for the best.
I admit I'm terrified we will lose Tim's mom too.
