Yesterday I get a call that my daughter fell when ice skating. She knocked her head pretty good and ended up with a concussion. The drive to the hospital was scary because she was really out of it. It scared the pants off me to see her like that. She is better now and I am grateful. Poor kid. She's okay, we are blessed.
We had a pleasant time at the Emergency Room. We ended up seeing the head of children's emergency medicine because I freaked out the resident and the fellow doctors. I explained my daughter was in pain and how this is NOT normal for her. I explained how she didn't even cry when she broke her arm and how she described this pain as worse. They were pretty paranoid I was going to push for a CT scan. I told them I understood that she'd passed the neurological testing because I was familiar with it due to my previous stroke. The 3 doctors just stared at me in shock and asked my age. Having a stroke at 35 isn't normal so it is quite an attention getter. We had a nice talk about brain function and Wonder Girl's quick recovery. Once it was explained to me a little more on how concussions work I was fine with skipping a scan. Wonder Girl didn't need it, just needed to be checked over and released. We were good to go -- so we split.
The husband took the poor dog back to the vet and her eye is not healing. We take the pug to a specialist on Monday -- she may need surgery.
My mother inlaw has surgery Tuesday to revise a problem with her gastric bypass.
I could use a nap.
