Happy Post

What a great day! I talked to my Dad a few minutes ago to thank him. I got my holiday bonus yesterday and it was a great bonus. Hubby and I talked and we are not touching it. If we leave it alone (and we will!) we will have money to carry us through the 12 weeks that I'll be student teaching in the fall. I had to tell my Dad that this was the plan and how much pressure this takes off of me (as you may recall Hubby's construction business is on the skids).

I just told my Dad how grateful I was and how much I appreciated the financial support. I admit it, I teared up. It is overwhelming when a puzzle piece falls into place unexpectedly. He then told me that he supports me and what I'm doing. He said he appreciates how hard I work at school, work and at home. He said I do all of these things well and that he is proud of me. I am so grateful. I try so hard to keep it all going. To hear that he sees me as doing all of these things well really made me feel good.

I got validation from my cooperating teacher's assessment as well today. How thrilling it is when your efforts are recognized and appreciated. I am going to soak up this moment! Too often I've rushed through these moments of recognition... not anymore. For today I will enjoy these things. Tomorrow I can get back to work on the next project :-)

Knowing that I make my Dad proud means the world to me. I find satisfaction in my own accomplishments, but hearing it from him means so much to me because I respect him so much.

What a great feeling! That and finishing my homework on my lunch hour -- it is great when you can have a day like today... I'm grateful for the blessings!

There just isn't anything quite as warm as the feeling you get from the praise of your parent. When my dad was alive, he just always made me feel like he trusted me and believed completely in anything my husband and I chose to do. It's wonderful, and I'm glad your dad said that to you.
