Poor Super Girl....

My poor daughter came home from the second to last day of school sick today. Tomorrow is the last day and she is running a fever. She is wiped out. Soccer try outs are tomorrow night... I would consider it highly unlikely that she will feel better enough to compete in 85 degree weather. She is bummed. She had a a chance until she got sick. Perhaps it is not meant to be. Watching this kind of disappointment is more painful than experiencing it myself. She is only 11... how the heck will I find the strength to survive the rest of the disappointments she will face in this life?

The same thing happened to my daughter the last few days of the fourth grade...except for the soccer tryouts.

The hardest thing about having a kid is not being able to absorb their pain and disappointments for them. Of course, I think it's more painful for us!

Hope she gets to feeling MUCH better.

Oh, poor Super Girl. I'm sure there will be something wonderful in her future to make up for missing out on soccer tryouts!

It doesn't get any easier to watch their hurt when they get older.

The good news- It will really make you proud when they learn to take the disappointments with grace & acceptance, realizing they can still learn from the experience & use it.

I hope that she feels better...poor sweety...

Perspective, we must be diligent in reminding ourselves of perspective. Things can always be worse. Always.

And wine helps...and margaritas too.
