Wonder Girl was interested as well. I love how sometimes you get a two for one deal. Peaking the interest of both your kids -- does it get any better?
I told them it was a different kind of Macaroni -- we would need to drive there but I was low on gas for the car. We would have to risk running out, did they want to take the risk? YES!!!! Don't you just love it when your kids have a sense of adventure?
So I drove them to what had taken my breath away the other day. It was a strip of road side grass that was no longer grass. There were blooms beyond description....
The side of the road lit up as pink and red against green. The blooms blended in a surreal scene that was out of place but WONDERFUL in our suburban landscape. It was almost like a pink haze.... the rear view mirror almost captures the glory.
On the side of the road, someone had planted flowers. A LOT of flowers!
If you drove by quickly it was a red and pink blur against green....
If you slowed down you could see the majestic wonder....Someone planted the flowers all the way up to the tree line.
Someone reminded us to look and not touch. "Please don't pick. Newly planted and they won't return."
Behold the Guacamole!!! I don't know what kind of flower this is.... I wonder at the beauty and wish my windshield had been clean enough to photo the stretch of roadside transformed into spender.... behold a glimpse....
May your day bloom despite any worries or woe. Take a moment won't you? The flowers are dancing on the side of that road... Do you see them? Don't drive by too quickly.... you will miss the brief but wonderful show! I love it when we get to see the show. It is even better when you get to share it with the kids. I've called friends and told them what road they MUST drive down. Some had seen the wonder but not shared it with others... Share the wonder!

I like the flowers
Isn't it wonderful to see that someone saw and shared the beauty. =)
I wish more would take the time to forward such beauty. It would make the world so much more fun to live in.
I believe those beauties are poppies.
Wonderful glorious poppies. =)
If you want them to come up next year make sure that you and the wonder kids hit the store to buy some poppies that are perennials.
They are easy to plant and you can make sure that their generous thought will be around for others.
so beautiful. thanks for sharing this with us. i think it's awfully sweet you drove out to show your kids. i'm sure they'll grow up with the same appreciation of beauty that you have.
my initial thought is some kind of poppy
fragile....
Poppies!! Reminds me of the field that Dorothy and friends had to travel through before arriving at Oz. How beautiful! What a delight! It is so wonderful that your children appreciate flowers. They would love my gardens right now. I will post pictures soon.
What I love about this is that your KIDS loved it! May they never lose that wonder at such glory.
