Bicycle, Bicyle!

Have you ever heard that song by Queen, "I like to ride my bicycle"? Well, it has been going through my head because I'm finally riding my bike which I bought 3 years ago. That and my husband keeps singing it too me! This bike rocks! The exercise is enjoyable. I wish I had a bike trail near me here at home.
What a way to start the ride!

So green...

I live in a small town neighborhood and there is just a bit too much traffic to safely ride a bike in town. To get to the trail you must navigate some traffic spots which beg for a biker to be hit. I don't need any more drama so I've avoided riding my bike. Now I realize it is well worth it to have my Hubby strap the bikes on a car and then drive to a bike trail (I'm not all about doing this myself, I'm happy to let my manly man put the bikes on the car). When we were Up North we had a great time biking.
Hubby went home with the kids when they got tired. He had homework to do. I rode on with his ipod for company. The ipod is an invention I now understand and, of course, now covet. (Learning how to use the ipod is what made me love the darn thing -- that and portability, non-skipping, quality of sound....) He had some odd musical combinations on that thing.

I have to say the rails to trails program is amazing (they take old railroad lines and converts them to bike trails). I love the trail. Most of the trail is paved, some is gravel.
I was awestruck as I biked along trails which cut through the forest, skirted along the river, and ambled next to lakes. I get it now. I see why people are avid bike fans. I just wish my butt wasn't so sore! I hear it gets better.... Day 1's 17 mile jaunt left me a little sore, Day 2's 13 miles was a little too ambitious. I went alone on the 2nd trip. Sometimes it is nice to be alone... I took a lot of pictures, blogger was merciful and let me upload. Yay! Later I hope to post the flowers -- it may be a game of "Name that Flower!" as I only wish I knew the names of the blooms I encountered.

Hubby is loving that I'm exercising. He knows that I always feel better when I work out Endorphins are good for pain management and I've been really sore since we had to cut the gym membership -- I'm not as self motivated to work out as I'd hoped. Bike riding is a great start though -- 30 miles in 2 days and I'd love to go again. I can't wait for my bike to come home with Hubby. He and the kids stayed for a few extra days. I had to come back to work. I can't wait until I have summers off. I will bike to this beach often and have my lunch there. I will do this every summer....

I have a bike that sits. Never can seem to get comfy on it. sore butt

that looks lovely -- the bike trail would be much nicer to ride. traffic scares me.... because I know what happens when cars and bikes tangle.
